Your new Morrifield Greenhouse has been well and truly tested in NZ’s harsh weather conditions for more than 45 years.
Built from only quality raw materials, sourced locally if possible and made and manufactured in Invercargill since 1980.
We take great pride in being a NZ made product and are proud to be part of “Buy NZ Made”.
Our aluminium is sourced locally from the Tiwai Point Aluminium smelter where possible and is extruded in NZ.
Morrifield aluminium differs from any other greenhouse product as it has been anodised. This makes the aluminium smooth and cool so there is no wear to the cover. It also removes the need for Frameguard tape which is time consuming to fit and unnecessary.
It also prevents black marks on the cover from rubbing against the framework.
The Tunnelhouse Polythene covers are made from commercial grade Greenhouse film “Polygro” and is 200mu grade. The 200-micron film has an EVA content in it. This allows not only strength, but it can provide a far better stretch and elasticity than higher micron products that can’t be tightened the same. Our covers are able to be stretched and tightened very easily so it becomes taut. The cover is fully recyclable after its lifespan.
Morrifield covers are prefabricated in the factory as a one-piece cover. This is an important aspect as it allows for an easy quick assembly with minimal effort. No clipping systems are used on the Polythene models as these are extremely difficult to fit, even for experienced people.
The cover also helps to brace and strengthen the greenhouse. The polythene has a 4-year warranty against UV breakdown but has an average lifespan of 7- 10 years and beyond. The latter years of the cover will be noticeably opaquer as it ages. At the end of the cover life growing won’t be as good because of the lack of light transmission.
Polythene Tunnelhouses are far safer than glass products and growing is exceptional because of the humidity that the film provides.
All our Tunnelhouse models include a tanalised H4 treated timber and fixings for longevity which is included in the price as part of the kitset. Macrocarpa timber is available on request but is an additional cost.
Morrifield Greenhouses all have at least one roof vent/door and in the larger models more vents, windows and doors are required as the need for ventilation is far greater in larger models.
All ventilation options are provided with the range of models.
Ventilation plays a vital part of tunnelhouse growing. The bigger the model the more ventilation that is needed.
While some greenhouse kitsets are cheaper, they don’t have the ventilation options as standard.
We believe that our Polycarbonate range is the strongest greenhouse on the NZ market.
The Polycarbonate Twinwall sheeting has a 15 year UV Warranty against UV breakdown. Only 6mm Polycarbonate is available. A full side sheet is used on each bay. This size helps with bracing the greenhouse and adds strength.
A small imported greenhouse with window size panels will be far more likely to have panels blow out due to wind. Once the wind can get into the greenhouse it can easily blow out more panels. Having a full length sheet will help prevent this.
The sheeting ends are taped with a breathable foil tape to help prevent moisture from seeping into the inside of the polycarbonate.
Polycarbonate sheeting filters sunlight so it isn’t as intense and will help to protect plants from damage. It will retain heat longer than traditional glasshouses.
At Morrifield we have a full sales and back up service, and all parts are readily available.
